embodied participation in the world's imagination

about

Karmit is an artist, facilitator and cultural curator whose practice revolves around the dynamic interactions between humans and the non-human world. With deep attentiveness to subtle narratives of people and land, she fabulates social practices that invite us to renew our connection to, as well as re-imagine our role as custodians of the places we dwell in.

Working primarily with stories and textiles, she makes sacred artefacts that act as mediators and agents, inviting people to engage in somatically guided, land based creative practices to help us think like nature does, as intra-connected systems.

She is connected to, and committed to the landscapes, people, stories and traditions of the Strait of Gibraltar, various places across the Mediterranean Sea, river estuaries, wetlands and water systems, movement of plate tectonics and volcanoes.

Her work is rooted in the following values: communitas and interconnection, emergence and tradition, curiosity and deep listening, movement and flow, imagination and transformation, slow culture and learning through making.                                                                                                 â€‹
